Probably the best inexpensive rural mailbox on the market…….,
This mailbox was originally designed and manufactured by Rubbermaid and has been sold for over 10 years. It has been availble in three sizes. They are now made under lisense bt Home Impressions of Hickory, NC, which was acquired by the Gibraltar Group. Gibraltar also owns the Solar group, a major namufacturer of metal mailboxes and posts.
The standard one is the small one, which is unremarkable. It is no more than a plastic version of the standard rural mailbox in both size and function. The smal one does not have the advanced features of the two larger ones.
The medium and large ones are the ones that are really excellent. They are equivalent to the I1-1/2 and T2 sizes. For most users, the medium one is the most useful. It allows magazines abd books to lie flat. Both of these sizes have special mounting provisions, which allow screwing of these mailboxes directly to an existing horizontal 4×4 or a standard 6-1/4x 17 inch mailbox mounting board (the same size as a standard metal mailbox).
The yellow mail signal flag is so convenient that I no longer need to go out to the street to open the box to see if the mailman has come. I don’t know how I did without this feature before.
This mailbox has been tested for durability by several states highway authorities (including Colorado) and found it to be more durable than most others, when hit by snow coming off of a snow plow.
The medium box is a standard item available at all WalMarts for around $20, while the large one can be had at Ace Hardware for about $30.
Great mailbox, easy to install, very functional
This mailbox was used to replace a wood mail box that looked like a little house but could not take harsh winters and rotted out even though it had been stained and repeatedly repaired. Based on that experience, I wanted something that wouldn’t rot or rust so decided to try this based on the reviews here. The box size is medium and is great. Magazines and most mailers lay flat. The yellow “mail’s here” flag is a nice touch. On the installation though, I’d recommend the rubbermaid mount that is designed for the product (sold seperately). I initially tried a universal mount to put this on the post but it didn’t line up. The rubbermaid mount, is what I settled on and it allowed the box to be “snapped” onto the post easily.

I love this mailbox. I bought specifically because it has a yellow flag that comes up when the mail arrives. I don’t have to guess if the mailman has come or not. I also like the size of it. It’s bigger than most. You do not need a mounting bracket if you have one of those wood “t” shaped posts.

I ordered a new Tower for my most recent build, but there was one small problem. All of the fans in the case had Molex power connectors. If I wanted to use the system speed controlled pin connectors on my new Mother Board with all of the Case fans incorporated into my new tower(7 – 120mm fans and 1 – 80mm exhaust fan), I had to adapt them from the Molex connectors back to the 3 pin style connectors located on my Mother Board. This product was the perfect solution. The CPU is a 4 pin connector on the Mother Board, but the CPU Cooler comes with the correct 4 pin connector if you have done your research before the purchase. The case and system fan connectors on the Mother Board were all 3 pin connectors. I ordered what the system required to take full advantage of the 3 pin connectors and the on board speed controls. Everything installed easy & worked great. Thanks!
must have for cases with multiple fans
I find the product from cyberguys excellent quality and easy to use. It is a must for all cases with multiple fans as these can not be directly connected to the motherboard. These connections save me a lot as I did not have to buy new fans with the proper connectors.

Slippery when WET.
I got a sample of this when I bought a new toy for my wife from Healthy and Active. We decided to use it the first night we got it. I’ve got to say….this is AMAZING. It’s SUPER slick. You could park a Cadillac in a doghouse with this stuff. In addition to it being super slick, it lasts a LONG time. After we finished and got cleaned up, my junk was still slippery a few HOURS later. If you want this stuff off, you’re going to have to WASH with soap and water.
The Lube That Lasts Forever
You are not going to find a better product than Wet Platinum Premium Body Glide. This is silicone based and lasts forever. You never have to worry about interupting your fun !!! The price is very reasonable too.
Better than Pjur for “slippery” applications (plus recommendations)
We have tried a few different lubes over the years, butd this one stands out. There are others with fancier packaging and exotic names, but they don’t compare for performance. “Pjur” is probably the second best (albeit the most expensive) we’ve ever used, but it lacks the slip that “Wet” provides. “Pjur” also seems to lose its effectivity sooner than a silicon based lube should. “Wet” is so smooth that it borders on frictionless if liberally applied. Buy this and any other lube in small sizes to see what you prefer. There’s a strong chance this will be your first choice once the comparisons are done.
Recommendations:
- Got a jelly toy that breaks down with any non-water based lubricant? DON’T GET THIS!
- Got other higher quality toys that are non-jelly? Get “Wet” or another silicone based lubricant.
- Want to spice up your, or your partner’s hand? GET THIS!
- Just person to person “Adam and Eve” missionary action? Get any hogh quality lube and pick your favorite.

Outstanding fingernail clipper … someone finally got it right
Each of us has certain tools or accessories in which we are more or less interested than the average person. Maybe you’re totally wrapped up in finding “the ultimate hammer” where, to me, it’s no big deal. I suspect that I am a lot more interested in a quality nail clipper than the average person who’s sufficiently satisfied with the chrome plated items we find in most drugstores and grocery stores. If the average nail clipper you find in the local store is good enough for you, then there’s no reason to read this review.
Personally, I find the typical chrome plated, “inexpensive” nail clipper to be utterly maddening. Why? A) the chrome plating often starts falling off before you even open the package and it begins to fall off even faster when you begin using the clippers; B) the cutting edge on most brands is utterly inconsistent. If I buy two pair of a given brand, I find one clips just fine while the second gets about half way through my nail and decides it’s just too much work and I end up tearing the nail instead of clipping it. C) The clippers tend to fall apart WAY too fast, with the thumb lever becoming loose and wobbly in no time. D) The metal is such low quality that any significant encounter with water gets them rusting like crazy. E) Even the better ones have such poorly shaped cutting edges that they’d be better described as “nail crunchers”, leaving a rough edge instead of a smooth, clean edge. Some cutting edges are so poor they won’t even cut cleanly through loose skin around the nail.
If these gripes about the common nail clipper ring a bell with you, then I strongly suggest you try the Seki Edge Stainless Steel Nail Clipper.
First off, it’s stainless steel, not chrome plated … no flakes of chrome getting imbedded under your fingernails … no rusting after a few days in damp shower kit. Second, the construction is sturdy and substantial, not flimsy. Third, the cutting edge is masterful, delivering a clean, smooth cut every time … a cut accompanied by a satisfying CLICK!! that tells you it’s cut cleanly through the nail. Forth, the mechanism is designed to work smoothly with no ill fitting, loose or wobbly parts. It’s simply the best fingernail clipper I’ve EVER used and I can highly recommend it.
Given that people’s priorities do vary, there are a few product details you should consider before purchasing … if you like a fingernail file built into your clipper, you won’t find one here. Personally, when I need a file (which isn’t often with this true edged clipper), I use the one in my smallest Swiss Army Knife. Second, there is no round hole in the base of the clipper to which to attach a chain or key ring. There are two narrow slots through which a small diameter chord could be fitted, but nothing big enough to support a chain or key ring. Lastly, this item is made of substantial stainless steel, so it’s considerably heavier than most clippers. If that’s likely to bother you, keep it in mind.
I have NO regrets about this great clipper and I’m SO glad I got it.
great fingernail clipper
Same quality and a third the price of henkels branded clippers I bought 7 years ago in Tokyo. Cuts cleanly and maintains sharp edge. Bonus for style points. This is the cadillac of clippers and will last a life time.
Simple Tool with Great Results
This product along with the Seki Edge Toe Nail Clipper are simple tools that help make life a little more enjoyable and easier. These also make nice gifts for family and friends as they will be pleasantly surprised by the build quality, design, and sharp blades.
Some of my thoughts:
- Cost: Yes initially they are more expensive than the cheaper ones but after having used them for over 6 months, it looks like it will last longer. However, these are not to the point of out-of-reach high luxury items with gold plating and studded with diamonds. They are probably more expensive because of quality build, carefully thought out design, and the use of good materials and processes. I also contacted Seki Edge through e-mail and confirmed that they are made in Japan which also probably contributes to the higher price.
- Features: It would have been nice if these nail clippers came with a file. The cheaper ones I’ve seen have this feature and can be pretty handy to help smooth out the nail after cutting. However, if you are mainly using it for manicure or pedicure purposes at home, then you can always buy a separate file for the job. Also note that in addition to not having a file it also does not have a finger/toe jam picker. Hey it sounds nasty but this is all part of the cleaning process! But it’s okay because if I see jam, I’d rather just cut my nails short and give them a good washing.
- White Sticker: The white rectangular shaped sticker with “Seki Edge” logo in red and black looks like it might come off over time. I wish they instead engraved or stamped their name or even kept it off entirely. This of course is not a big issue but my first impression was that this sticker somewhat cheapened the look.
- Size: Another first impression was that these clippers are not small or travel sized. Possibly the ergonomic design and leverage needed to cut with ease contributes to a slightly bulkier product design compared to the cheaper ones. Despite this bulkiness, I can see this clipper being ergonomically friendly for those with large or small hands.
- Quality: The build quality is like a tank and yet it feels nice to hold in the hand. Also when you open and twist the handles, it flows smoothly and it does not feel like it will fall off or disconnect like the cheaper ones often do. I notice a hint of metal to metal sound when turning the handles, which probably will produce scratch marks over time, but this is not such a big issue to me. I am not sure what the two slots on the edge of the handle are for but I assume that it is for style and to help lighten the weight. I also appreciate the stainless steel material. The brushed stainless steel found on the body and the smooth sandblasted surface look on the handle is nicer than the chrome plated or “gold” plated shiny ones typically found elsewhere. The angles and curvatures throughout the design also contribute to a nice looking clipper. The blades are what really set itself apart from the competition. You can really feel that the perfectly aligned sharp blades actually grip your nails before proceeding to clip off the nail crisply and assuredly. I wonder though how long the blades will last over time. Thankfully I understand that this is twice tempered steel and that it can be sharpened. As with any tool you need to get used to it. I recommend cutting a little less nail in the beginning until you get the hang of it (no pun intended). For me I got a little carried away in the beginning and I cut off too much nail. After a day of handling items, opening doors, and typing on the computer, I noticed my nail was slightly separated from the finger on the very tip causing it to be sore (sorry for those who are squeamish). Anyway, there is also sometimes a clicking noise after immediately following each nail clip depending on the amount of force you give. This sound assures you that the clipper did its job and is ready for the next “bite”.
Overall I found these two tools to be a nice and helpful addition to my everyday life. The fact that I know that I do not have to struggle with low quality clippers (easily dull and misaligned blades and small design that is hard to hold and slips when given too much pressure) when clipping my nails gives me peace of mind. For a few bucks more, I consider this to be a significant upgrade. If it were up to me, I would rate these 4.5 stars out of 5 because it is not absolutely perfect but close to it. However I will give these 5 stars since this is the best nail clipper I have ever experienced.
As a side note I feel like these nail clippers give the similar unexplainable good feeling that is produced by Felco Classic Pruners Felco Classic Manual Hand Pruner #F-2 (for gardening purposes which I highly recommend) when using it and yielding great results. If you own one you know what I mean.
